FIRST IMPRESSIONS name; Lucius Octavio Malfoy nicknames; LuckyLuLuLucyLou If one wishes to call him anything aside from "Lucius", then they should address him as "Mr. Malfoy" and nothing more. age; 28. birthday; December 27, 1954. bloodline; Pureblood. Does one even have to ask? He is just one member of a long line of high class, wealthy purebloods. occupation; Co-Supreme Overlord of the DoM Alongside the former Gemma Croaker (now going by any number of surnames), he has forceably taken control of the Department of Mysteries. He also occasionally fools around with weather in there. beliefs on blood purity; Lucius believes purity is the only way in which to live one's life. He admires the strength and determination it takes to not allow human "emotions" to get in one's way, and to keep a long-standing family tradition alive in continuing to marry purebloods. To him, the word "pureblood" carries with it a sort of class. It feels so much nicer in his mouth, rolls off his tongue in an infinitely more pleasing way than the word "Muggleborn" or "halfblood". Those vulgar terms conjure of images of slums and carousing unbefitting a man of his stature.
He shan't be caught using terms such as "mudblood", but one look at a Muggleborn, a halfblood, or a blood traitor, and that's what he sees. Muggleborns are, to him, foreigners, outsiders that do not belong in his world. The Magical world and the Muggle worlds were separated because of the Muggles' inability to live peacably with the Magical inhabitants, and for a witch or a wizard to willingly bring one into their world, and share with them their gifts and their power, is treachery. It's not that he believes they are less talented -- any witch or wizard can be just as powerful as the next, he realizes -- and it's a fact that he despises. He loathes the fact that witches and wizards may bring in more and more outsiders, exposing their world to a wider and wider population, and continue to produce children that may rival his own son in class.
Lucius feels that blood purity is the only way to salvage the world in which he lives.

Unbeknownst to many, Lucius has a fear of being caught and hanged for his crimes, despite the fact that such a punishment is rather outdated.
handicaps; Lucius has no true handicaps -- none that would get him to the front of the line at an amusement park or a special parking space -- but he does have a slight stutter, which he has learned to control for the most part, and ever since the epidemic that nearly killed him last August, he has found himself suffering semi-regular migraines.

IN THE HEAD personality; Silence. If one wished to summarise Lucius Malfoy's personality in one word, that would undoubtedly be the word to use. Lucius hardly ever speaks when his voice does not need to be heard, and keeps speeches to the bare minimum. His fears do not include public speaking per se, as it is not only speaking to crowds that he avoids, but, instead, what can happen when one misspeaks, or is misunderstood. Namely, slander. Lucius has a great fear of what may happen if he mixes up his words and his tongue becomes twisted while speaking in public places, or even in polite conversation from time to time, his explanation (one never given to a soul) being that words do not simply roll off his tongue as they do others. Lucius was not brought up in a house in which speaking was the primary form of communication. In fact, in that particular Malfoy household, it seemed like days, weeks even, could go by without the young wizard saying a word. And so, in his mind, no verbal language is his first language. He speaks sign language fluently, and nothing else.
Lucius also has high standards, standards he isn't always sure he can follow, and he expects those around him to abide by them. When one speaks to him, he wishes for them to avoid profanity (he does have a toddler in the house), address him appropriately according to their respective stations, and if one drinks, do avoid excess when speaking with him. If this were to be their first time speaking to him, it would be understandable were they to not know his conditions. If this were the second time, slips of the tongue occur. By the third time (and beyond, if he is feeling patient), then they have gone too far, and they must be taught a lesson. Really, is it so difficult to watch one's mouth from time to time? The fact that he can't always be in complete control of his tongue, and words he would not approve of others using can slip out, makes him even more hesitant to speak in heated situations. He does not want to appear hypocritical, and will even surrender the chance to defend himself if he fears this may occur. This has, from time to time, worked in Lucius' favour, though; the fact that he knows when to shut up, or will close his mouth earlier than others might, keeps him from really digging himself into a hole with others.
The true reason, one might say, Lucius acts out in these ways is he is insecure. He hears whispers about him around every corner, overanalyses every glance from a co-worker, and does not appreciate it when another does not trust him -- be they joking or no. Lucius has worked over the years to overcome the obstacles that were the somewhat lower station his parents had been forced into, and the stutter he suffered from (and still does, to a smaller extent) in his childhood, and he shudders to think of his world, so carefully constructed, crashing down upon him at this point in his life.
He is also, surprisingly enough, not a heartless individual. Despite what many may believe about Lucius, he does not simply go about killing mindlessly. He has killed, but, when he does, it was not simply because of one's blood or status in life. While Lucius would like for the less-than-purebloods of the world to be of a lower status, he does not share the belief that they should be immediately slaughtered. Lucius will only kill someone if they get in his way, if they cause a ruckus, or if they try to arrest him. Or if he's ordered to by his lord. At that point, he's rather incapable of saying no, isn't he? ...Aside from the time he found himself unwilling to kill a pregnant ex-Death Eater. But we don't talk about that. He also loves his wife; a shocking thing, yes for a man in his position in life to love the woman he married, but not a completely unheard of event. Lucius is, to tell the truth, smitten by Narcissa -- by her beauty, her class, her charm -- and he will give into her at the drop of a hat. Anything she asks is hers, as long as she is happy and safe. Yes, safe, because, as capable a witch as Narcissa is, Lucius can't help feeling terribly protective of her, and of her well-being. Anyone who knows Lucius would know, were anything unfortunate ever to befall his wife, Lucius would brutally slaughter anyone even remotely responsible for her fate. goals; Possibly to create an army of pureblood children. mental health; Sure. We can say he's sane. Not really all that true, but he's sane compared to most of his fellow Death Eaters. habits; He's a heavy smoker, if one can count that as a habit. When he doesn't have a cigarette in his hand, he has to be doing something with his hands, be it cracking his knuckles, twirling his wand, playing with his cuffs, ruffling his hair, or anything really. He's more of a fidgeter than you might think.
IN THE PAST upbringing;
Lucius' parents were arranged to be married in their youth, both sets of parents entering the agreement with low expectations. Though it was their hope that any grandchildren the couple might produce would be functional and upstanding members of society, their marriage was primarily for the purpose of sweeping the pair under the rug of society, so to speak, for Abraxas and Florentina were both deaf -- Abraxas having been born deaf, and Florentina having become deaf after a severe illness when she was less than a year old.
Growing up, Lucius and his elder sister, Felicia, were taught not to be ashamed of their upbringing -- having been relatively ignored by both sets of grandparents for the vast majority of their childhood -- and that their experiences were what made them unique. Lucius, however, was ashamed. Though he was fluent in sign language, and had picked up the art of reading lips, he refused to use either skill, and very few know of the circumstances in which he learned them -- if they know of his skills at all. And while Lucius still plays the part of the dutiful son, when obligated to visit his parents, he rarely brings his two-year-old son along.
This upbringing did, however, have a profound influence on Lucius' future. Like a true Slytherin, his ambition won over any sentimentality he might have had, and he chose to work past his childhood. He strove to abandon the stigma of his past, and become what his grandparents had always hoped he or Felicia would become; upstanding members of society worthy of their attentions.
As Lucius' status in society continued to rise, his grandparents' interest in him increased. The ungrateful Lucius immediately forgot their lack of said interest whilst growing up and took to their higher class life immediately. Though he had grown up as a member of the higher class, his parents had been downtrodden and ignored by their own. Now, as his paternal grandfather has taken him on as his protege, he has gracefully shed himself of his past (for the most part), and stepped into his new life as a member of the upper crust, complete with a marriage to a daughter of the Black family.
Does he regret so carelessly severing ties with his parents? Only he knows for sure.
ON THE OUTSIDE hair; It is naturally a medium to light blond, a colour that does nothing but make his face look paler. Hours in the sun, or lack thereof, have been known to effect the colour of his hair, and he has been known to charm it a touch darker when in cognito, but he prefers his natural color above all else. eyes; A piercing, threatening grey-blue. height; Six feet, four inches. weight; Between 170 and 180 pounds, though he has been a bit on the lighter side ever since he fell ill during the epidemic last August. skin; Rather pale, with a thin scar under his left eye -- the result of a Quidditch injury in his school days -- but it is otherwise clear, with minimal flaws. dress style; Professional; always professional. defining marks; Nothing, aside from that scar, and the dark mark on his arm. examples; 01|02|03
